Henry David Thoreau

Our Acid Rambler, Emeritus, Thoreau practiced a life lived simply, uncluttered by the unnecessary, the natural world preeminent and with equality as a guiding principle. His words would go on to influence Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr and JFK; Muir, Hemmingway and Abbey.

Portrait by Kate Copeland

“You must live in the present, launch yourself on every wave, find your eternity in each moment. Fools stand on their island of opportunities and look toward another land. There is no other land; there is no other life but this.”
